For days now, I have purchased this domain, bought templates and created list upon list of ideas for my blog. Yet, I would stare at the blank “write” page, and could not write. I kept over analyzing what my first post will be, the impact it will make, what audience it will touch, and then, I got a text earlier today. A very good high school friend of mine passed away at 31 years old from cardiac arrest. He was only one year and a month older than I am… and he went to bed and did not wake up again. Now, I get it. Life is extremely short, and although I have lost a handful of people in the last few years, months, and even days ago, this death is different.
We drifted apart because I got busy, and he we still kind, even though I was busy. I would push our meeting days for years and years, because I was busy… and now, he’s gone.
Today, I realized, I can not continue to push things away and I can not wait for tomorrow, for what I can easily do today. Today I wish I could have a brunch date like he wanted, catch up over a cup of coffee with our partners and eat some fine cuisine like he wanted, but I simply can’t. However, I can write, and I can publish my first post.
So this blog is dedicated to you, my dear friend. We can finally meet up and catch a bite to eat with these words… I’m sorry I couldn’t do it sooner.
